FAQ
1. I'm visiting from out of town and I'd like to attend church on Sunday during my vacation. How can I find a church?
You can go to our Churches page and scroll down to find the town where you will be staying and click on each church website link in your general area. Each church website should give you enough information for you to determine if that church is a good fit for you. We have also had people contact us directly and we've been able give them some suggestions based on their needs. Here's our direct email address if you'd like to contact us directly: OneChurchRochester.events@gmail.com
2. Our family just moved into town and I would like our children to meet other Christian kids. Where should I start?
First, start by connecting with a local church. See the answer for question #1 on how to find a church. Then check out our Kids Stuff page to have your kids join a local kids club where the Christian faith is integrated with life skills and fun activities.
3. I'm an international student attending a local college. How can I meet other Christians?
Go to our Ministries page and scroll down to the College Students section. There you will find Christian organizations that have local groups at the college campuses. Click on the links to see if one of those organizations has a group at your college. Also, it's important that you connect with a local church. See the answer for question #1 on how to find a church.
4. I'm a Women's Ministry Leader and sometimes when I plan events the attendance is low. How can your website help?
It is important when planning events that your event is not scheduled on a day when there are other major Christian events happening at the same time. City wide events such as Women of Faith, Walk for Life, and Night to Honor Israel are examples of dates to avoid because they attract thousands of participants. Check the Community Events page first before scheduling your date to make sure there are no conflicts. Additionally, if your event is open to the public, don't forget to contact us to post your event on our Women's Events page. It's the best way to get the word out to the Rochester community. Use this link to submit an event: Add an Event. If you add your event with a graphic to our Facebook wall, we'll share it there for you too. Finally, post your event on twitter and tag OneChurchROC and we'll retweet it for you. We're happy to help!
5. As a Youth Leader, sometimes it's difficult coming up with ideas of things to do with the teens at my church. Do you have any ideas?
Our website can make your life much easier because you can easily find out what events are out there for your teens by checking out our Teens page. In addition, if you go to our Concerts page you will know months in advance what concerts will be coming to town. Teens also like to bless other people by doing service projects so our Ministries page will help you find the organizations that are available and what type of help is needed. The Churches page will help you know what churches are in your area so you can connect with other Youth Leaders and plan an event for all the teens in your area. Finally, if you follow us on Twitter you will have every new event at your fingertips.
6. I am a Pastor at a small church and we would like to offer a service ministry to our members. How do I find out what's available?
You will find that our Ministries page will be very helpful to you. Each organization listed has contact information and many times they list their volunteer needs and their material needs. These non-profit organizations always need help. The list of organizations will also help you determine what is lacking in our community and where to focus your efforts.
7. Is it really free to advertise my event on OneChurchRochester?
Yep!! It's really FREE. We only advertise Christian Ministry events, so if you have an event or group that is Christian, and open to the community please contact us on the Add an Event page, Add a Group page. If your church is located in the Greater Rochester, NY, area and you would like to add it to our Churches page, please send us a note using the Contact Us page.
8. Can you post my church fundraiser on your website?
We post fundraisers that are Christian ministry events, such as concerts, plays etc. and some sporting events that promote the unity of the body. However, we do not have the space on our website to post every fundraiser from the 160+ churches and 35+ ministries that we support. Please feel free to contact us with any questions at OneChurchRochester.events@gmail.com.
9. We consider our Sunday morning church services, and Sunday morning holiday services special events. Can we post them on OneChurchRochester?
We have made a commitment to the churches that we support to not list Sunday morning services and Sunday morning holiday services even though you may have a special event scheduled for that day. However, we would consider adding special events on Sundays which start after 12:00 noon. Because we support 160+ churches, it would take too much time to maintain the Sunday service info.
10. I don't have an event or group to submit to your website, I just want to leave a comment. What form should I use?
We love to hear your comments because they encourage us and they help us to know what your needs are so we can keep on making improvements to OneChurchRochester. Please use the Contact Us page.
